In today's economy, businesses must go to great lengths to ensure that their financial practices are performed with strict adherence to federal, state, and local law. We all know what can happen if they don't. Perhaps the most complex type of audit is an IRS audit.

The IRS employs precise rules and rigorous procedures when conducting an audit. The outcome of an IRS audit can often make or break a company or corporation. It is necessary to have skilled, detailed attorneys to defend you during an IRS audit. At the Albright Stoddard Warnick & Stoddard law firm, we know tax law. And we will work to ensure that your financial practices and documents comply with IRS regulations.

Offers in Compromise

An Offer in Compromise (OIC) is an Internal Revenue Service program that allows individuals or businesses with unpaid tax debt to offer a negotiated amount in taxes that is less than the amount owed.

  • To qualify for an OIC, a debtor must meet one of the three following criteria:
    • Doubt as to Liability - Debtor must prove that the assessed tax liability is doubtful or incorrect
    • Doubt as to Collectibility - Debtor must show that the debt is likely uncollectible in full by the IRS under any circumstances
    • Effective Tax Administration - Debtor does not contest liability or collectibility but can demonstrate extenuating or special circumstances that the collection of the debt would "create an economic hardship or would be unfair and inequitable."

Albright Stoddard Warnick & Stoddard will help you arrange a reasonable OIC settlement with the IRS should you have a tax dispute.
